Solar equipment producer Meyer Burger Technology awarded contract from two existing Asian customers for the delivery and installations of its MB PERC cell. The total volume of the two orders is around $ 82,7 million, as the swiss company announced on Wednesday.
The two orders for its MAiA 2.1 technology platform are second installments to contracts of more than 7 GW of MB PERC with the manufacturers of both mono and multi crystalline solar cells which Meyer Burger published already in march this year.
The company claims that the cell technology can easily be increased by 1% absolute or more. Hans Brändle, CEO of Meyer Burger Technology, stated: “The increase of about 1% in cell efficiency seems like a small step but it is very significant for the PV industry enabling further reductions in the cost per Watt.”
Meyer Burger said that it will deliver and commission the equipment in the second half of 2017. To do so the company will temporarily increase production capacity for MAiA 2.1 equipment.
