The Moldovan energy regulatory authority ANRE has set the FITs for solar and wind power installations. According to a document published in the country’s official journal, the authority has granted a FIT of MDL 1.90 ($0.10)/kWh (VAT excluded) for the first time to a 41 kW PV project submitted by local developer Opal-Succes SRL.
This is the first time ANRE has granted a special tariff to a solar project, after the country’s Law on Promoting the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources came into force at the end of March 2017.
Furthermore, ANRE has granted special tariffs ranging from MDL 0,87/kWh to MDL 1,13/kWh to three wind power projects with a combined capacity of 6.5 MW.
The FIT scheme is managed by ANRE in partnership with the Moldovan Energy Efficiency Agency.
Moldova is supporting small-sized renewables through the FIT scheme, while large-scale projects are expected to receive support from an auction mechanism targeting allocation of approximately 400 MW of capacity.
Under Moldova’s new renewable energy regulation, grid operators are obliged to give priority to electricity from renewable sources when dispatching electricity production capacities, provided that the injection of renewable energy power does not negatively impact the safety of the electricity system. The new rules also include net-metering for renewable energy power stations with capacity up to 100 kW.
According to the latest available statistics, Moldova had only 1.6 MW of installed PV power at the end of 2016.
