Centrotherm books €80 million in cell equipment orders in three months

While the PV production equipment market remains a tough one, German supplier centrotherm photovoltaics has had a strong start to the financial year. In the last three months, the company has brought in €80 million in crystalline silicon cell production equipment orders, for “high-efficiency cell concepts.”

Asian cell producers placed the equipment orders, including the €45 million order signed today.

The PV cell production equipment will be produced at centrotherm's facility in Blaubeuren, in Germany's southwest. Centrotherm says that the bookings will result in “good” production utilization levels at the site.

The bookings will be particularly welcome for centrotherm photovoltaics, with its parent centrotherm group making only €90 million (US$95.6 million) in equipment sales in 2016.

The result, says centrotherm, is evidence of the company's strong position, despite the tough market conditions and downward pressures on prices.

The €80 million in equipment will be produced and shipped within 2017.

In October 2016,  Jan von Schuckmann took the reigns at centrotherm as management board chairman and CEO.
