Multi-Contact is no more, but in its place emerges Stäubli Electrical Connectors, the same company, offering the same products with the same technology, but with a new branding to emphasize its long-standing affiliation with the Stäubli Group. A company deeply important to the solar PV industry, with over one billion PV connectors successfully installed to date, the positive move to reinforce its brand is expected to ensure access to expanded research and development resources in the long term.
Now well-established as the preeminent electrical connector supply to the PV industry, Stäubli Electrical Connectors was established in Basel, Switzerland, in 1962. But one of its most critical moments came in 2002, when it joined forces with Stäubli Group, a provider of mechatronic solutions in the areas of coupling systems, acting as the Electrical Connectors Division. This partnership has enabled the company to thrive, and to expand its presence across various markets.
So, from Multi-Contact, it becomes Stäubli Electrical Connectors, with the tagline: “A connection for a future of efficiency and sustainability.” However, the company was eager to stress that nothing else is changing, the technology and the products are staying the same, and it not a corporate takeover, as it has been part of Stäubli Group for 15 years.
“Taking on the Stäubli brand underscores our membership in this innovative group of companies,” commented CEO of Stäubli Electrical Connectors and member of the senior management of the Stäubli Group Franco Delvecchio. “We are convinced that this step will make us an even more effective presence on the market. Together we can advance the development of cutting-edge products and customer-specific solutions to an even greater degree. We will now offer the entire spectrum of connection technology, which in such manner is unique on the world market, Under the Stäubli brand.”
Keeping innovation key to success
With electrical connectors needed in a whole variety of industries, Stäubli Electrical Connectors has been able to diversify its range of products and spread to numerous different markets. One of its key markets is solar PV across the global. In fact, the company has already successfully installed more than one billion PV connectors, which currently makes it the market leader.
The company is keen to keep this position, and plans to continue to enhance its technology to keep it ahead of the curb. So far, the technology of Stäubli Electrical Connectors has been pivotal to the progression of the solar PV industry, as the company’s connectors have allowed for highly efficient transfer of energy and guarantees a long service life.
Speaking on the decision to rebrand, and to be more clearly defined under the umbrella of the Stäubli brand, Stäubli Electrical Connectors said that the move should help it to ensure access to expanded research and development resources in the long term. Plus, the company said that it is proud to emphasize its long-standing affiliation with the Stäubli Group, as “Stäubli stands for sustainable reliability, long-term partnership, technological innovation and excellent sales and service expertise.”
And if that is not enough, the company believes that Stäubli also offers the security of access to all the necessary resources that the company may need now or in the future. Although the change of name is unlikely to change the genuine mechanics of the company, this new clear brand may prove to produce a number of benefits in the future, which can only be a positive outcome for its products that will be supplied to the solar market.
