Asia Clean Capital (ACC), a China-headquartered developer of clean energy solutions, has this week signed a cooperation agreement with SUMEC to develop a 100 MW rooftop solar PV pipeline in China.
SUMEC, a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH), will provide technical support, engineering design and other services for associated rooftops, ACC said in a statement.
ACC, meanwhile, will provide construction and financing for the rooftop systems, which will be installed across a number of sites in mainland China.
According to the ACC statement, this cooperation with SUMEC will enable the clean energy developer to speed up the development of its rooftop solar business, targeting multinational and domestic corporations in China that aim to lower their carbon footprint and operations costs, while also meeting increasingly stringent sustainability targets.
Earlier this year, ACC signed a 200 MW supply contract with Japanese inverter specialist TMEIC to support the development of commercial-scale rooftop solar PV projects in China.

It looks as if distributed solar may be finally taking off in China. Unusually in an international perspective, it seems to be driven by the commercial sector, not the residential. Has China still not solved the residential red tape problem?
