Mr. Cunningham has more than 20 years of experience at high levels of the US federal marketplace, including the US Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE). The DoD is the largest single consumer of energy in the USA, and is mandated to procure at least 25% of its power from renewables by 2025. The DoE is also showing strong commitment to solar and other clean energy sources in the USA.

In a press release, Sunworks note that solar projects have been seen more and more frequently in the federal marketplace in recent years, a trend which they expect to continue.

“We recognize the importance of addressing solar needs in the federal arena,” says Sunworks CEO Jim Nelson. “Developing this arm of our business will position us to expand the utilization of solar at a federal level, which is good for Sunworks and good for our country.”

Charles Cunningham has previously worked as an independent consultant in the energy sector, specializing in assisting clients in executing campaigns to penetrate the federal marketplace. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Sunworks family and look forward to complementing the corporate portfolio as we pursue opportunities across the federal landscape."

Nelson went on to add “We feel fortunate that Charles is leading our expansion efforts is servicing this market that has enormous growth potential."
