Sonnen ships its 10,000 solar battery

Sonnen continues to expand its overseas operations while continuing to rack up milestones in its domestic market. The company has shipped its 10,000th solar battery system to a German household, a move that it claims demonstrates its “leading position in the market for smart lithium storage systems.”

“While large and established companies are still in the orientation phase in the market for storage systems, we look forward to welcoming our 10,000th customer,” noted Sonnen sales and marketing director Philipp Schröder.

Sonnen has had a busy few months, having launched its sonnenCommunity platform in November 2015, opened a new U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles and unveiled a series of partnerships to roll out its batteries in North America in January.

Sonnen has also received wider recognition for its rapid growth, having made the Global Cleantech 100 list and was recognized by the German magazine Focus as one of Germany’s ten fastest growing companies.

pv magazine attended the opening of the Sonnen Los Angeles HQ last month and spoke with the team about its strategy for the U.S. market and product portfolio.
