DAS Energy, under the wing of the Austrian Diamond Aircraft Group, established its headquarters in Wiener Neustadt in a bid to set new standards in PV. The new production plant which is slated to be completed in the second quarter of 2016 will have a nominal production capacity of 75MW. The modules to be produced are glass-fibre reinforced plastic modules which can be mainly used in BIPV. The patent-pending solar module in the mid-term will be produced in several production sites worldwide with joint-venture partners.

CEO of DAS Energy Christian Dries stated that this is an important step towards energy transition in Austria and that PV is an integral part of modern architecture. He added that the Austrian government needs to set its federal policy such to promote the energy revolution.

DAS Energy is a joint venture between Activ Solar and Diamond Aircraft Industries. The September edition of pv magazine features an extensive interview with Activ Solar CEO Kaveh Ertefai, in which he outlines how Activ Solar attempted to de-risk its activities in Ukraine and the Crimea region, and establish the DAS Energy product.

pv magazine ammended this article 29 July 2015 correcting "Vienna" as the headquarters to "Wiener Neustadt".
