Renewables account for 54% of Spain's electricity production in April

According to data from Spanish grid operator, Red Eléctrica de España (REE), renewable energy covered 54% of Spain's electricity mix in April. This is the second month in a row that renewables have set a production record. In March, they covered 51.8%.

Specifically, photovoltaics accounted for 3.6% of Spain’s electricity mix last month. Meanwhile, from January to April, the technology covered 2.5% of the country’s energy demand.

Regarding the share of other renewables in April, hydropower accounted for 25% of the emery mix, while wind power contributed 22.1% and solar thermal 1.3%.

Overall, REE’s statistics show that electricity demand decreased by 2.6% last month in Spain, compared to the same month a year before.
