According to Germanys Federal Environment Minister, Peter Altmaier, new photovoltaic systems totaling 290 MW were added in March. If this figure is confirmed by the Federal Network Agency expected no earlier than the end of April then a total of 775 MW of photovoltaics were installed in Q1 2013.
After the agency confirms the installation figures, it must then publish the solar subsidy degression for May. This will be calculated based on the amount of photovoltaics installed between July 2012 and March 2013. According to the latest figures from Altmaier, installs total 3.98 GW. This is then extrapolated to an annual installation figure which would be around 5.3 GW of newly installed photovoltaic capacity.
If this proves correct, the government mandated photovoltaic construction limit of 2.5 to 3.5 GW would be exceeded by more than 1.8 GW. As such, feed-in tariffs would fall by a further 1.8% in May, to between 0.1082 to 0.1563/kWh, depending on system size.
If more is installed in March than 290 MW, then solar subsidies would fall by 2.2% in May.
