Solar Gangnam Style

Gangnam Style, released by South Korean musician Psy reached number one in more than 30 countries this year and has, to date, garnered more YouTube visits than any other video.

In homage, numerous fans across the world, including U.S. President Obama and supermodel Heidi Klum, have parodied the music video. And now, just when one might have thought the solar industry had escaped, SolarEdge has released its own version, "Solar Gangnam Style".

"Now it's solar time!" exclaims the manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters and power optimizers, which has taken the infamous beat and tailored the text to the solar industry. Referring to high electricity bills and increasing consumption, the company sings, "Find a solution, without pollution. Help yourself and planet earth. Start saving money and using sunlight. Make it your goal, it's free for all."

In addition to promoting the benefits of solar, company employees use the medium of song and dance to wish their customers and partners a happy holiday. The main singer, Eytan Heller, is sales manager for central America and the U.K.

On the SolarEdge blog, Danya Golan writes that the decision to use Gangnam Style as the basis for the company's Christmas video had been both easy and unanimous. Last year, it released a Christmas solar video to "Shine on".
