Conergy to build 12.4 megawatt Thai solar park

Conergy is working with its local partner Annex Power, a Bangkok-based systems integrator. Together the two parties will build the solar park across an area of 268,500 square meters.

A spokesperson for Conergy tells pv magazine that construction is scheduled to begin in May and should be completed by the end of the year. They would not divulge the investment sum.

The project is the second that the company has built in Asia in the last three months. It is also a follow-up project from the Ayutthaya solar park for investors Yanhee Solar and Ratchaburi Electricity, which entered into a joint venture agreement as Solarta to develop Thai solar parks.

Once completed, the new system will be over four times bigger than its predecessor.

In terms of equipment, the park will comprise 56,000 photovoltaic modules set on over 56 kilometers of mounting systems. Additionally, over 200 string and 25 central inverters will be feeding the generated energy – expected to be 19,500 megawatt hours of electricity annually – into the local grid. It is scheduled to supply more than 7,700 Thai households with energy.

Supot Sumritvanitcha, founder and CEO of Yanhee Solar, commented: "The current situation into Japan shows once again that we are on the right track with the increased investment into solar energy in Thailand.

"For me, it is a good feeling when our country, the environment and the global economy benefits from our investment. Furthermore, solar energy offers excellent returns for investors – especially if you have such highly efficient partners as we have."
