The first of the projects, the 12.6 MWp Loreo facility, will be located in the province of Rovigo in northern Italy. It will comprise 173,200 thin film PV panels supplied by First Solar. The second, the 13.5 MWp Priolo solar facility situated in the province of Syracuse, Sicily, will use 179,600 of the company's PV panels.

Laurence Juin, EDF Energies Nouvelles executive in charge of Southern Europe, commented: “We are delighted to announce the commissioning of the Loreo and Priolo facilities, which reflects the acceleration of our solar activities in Italy (…) They represent the largest solar energy projects completed by our Group to date in Italy, a country with great potential and a key growth driver.”

The Loreo and Priolo facilities are respectively 100 percent-owned and 90 percent-owned by EDF EN Italia, which carried out their development and construction.
