Tempe, Arizona-based Amtech Systems, a production equipment supplier, has announced today that its Netherlands-based subsidiary Tempress Solutions has received an 800 MW order for its solar diffusion system from an unnamed Chinese solar cell and module manufacturer.

The deal is the second large multi-system order for the company’s next-generation HD-POCI3 solar diffusion system, after earlier securing a 400 MW supply deal with a top-tier Tawainese cell producer.

Tempress Solutions will begin shipping the equipment within the next three to nine months to what the company has called "one of the most technologically advanced cell producers in China”.

"We are very pleased that our fully integrated, automated, new system platform, including the state-of-the-art HD process, is fully qualified and accepted in the industry at a very critical phase of new selective expansions," said Amtech CEO Fokko Pentinga. "This new HD-POCI3 process has demonstrated significantly lower cost of ownership than competing technologies and is providing important benefits to our customers.

"We continue to believe that we are fully participating in the selective expansion activities ahead of the next full recovery cycle."

At the turn of the year, Amtech purchased p-type PERC and n-type technology supplier SoLayTec from RENA, coming under the ownership of Tempress Solutions.
